WHCP Peer Educators in Washington D.C. for Hepatitis Awareness Day, 2010
WHCP believes strongly in the importance of peers as service providers in their own communities.
WHCP is part of an innovative pilot program called “Peer Delivered Syringe Exchange” or PDSE.
Utilizing peer networks, Peer Educators are able to reach at-risk injection drug using individuals in need of HIV prevention education, overdose prevention education, harm reduction resources, and linkage into WHCP services. Peer Educators are uniquely positioned to provide resources to ‘underground’ communities in ways that traditional outreach methods are generally unable to do.
WHCP would like to thank the MAC AIDS Fund for their generous support of our PDSE Program which falls under the agency’s COPE Initiative (Community Outreach Program Expansion).
